How to use Alexa to control your Windmill AC

You can control your AC with your voice using Alexa. Please use the following commands:

  • Turn on AC: “Alexa, turn on [AC name].” E.g.: “Alexa, turn on living room AC.”
  • Change temperature: “Alexa, change [AC name] temperature to [degrees].” E.g.: “Alexa, change living room AC temperature to 72 degrees.”
  • Change mode: “Alexa, change [AC name] to [cool/eco/fan] mode.” E.g.: “Alexa, change living room AC to Cool mode.” (Note: when you choose Fan mode, Alexa may say that the AC is not responding even though the mode changes correctly.)
  • Change fan speed: “Alexa, change [AC name] fan speed to [auto/low/medium/high].”  E.g.: “Alexa, change living room AC fan speed to Low.”  (Note: the AC will display A/1/2/3 for auto/low/medium/high.)
  • Turn off AC: “Alexa, turn off [AC name].” E.g.: “Alexa, turn off living room AC.”

You don’t need a smart speaker or smart home hub like an Amazon Echo to use Alexa voice commands. You can use the Alexa app itself: with the app open, either say “Alexa” or tap on the blue button in the lower right, and then say your command.

Things to know

  • If you change the AC’s name in Alexa, the name will not update in the Windmill app. This is how Alexa is designed.
  • When you choose Fan mode, Alexa may say that the AC is not responding even though the mode changes correctly.
  • There is currently no way to access the AC controls through the Alexa app, even though voice control works. Please use the Windmill app to access the AC controls on your phone.
