How to use Google Home to control your Windmill AC

You can control your AC with your voice using Google Home. Please using the following commands:

  • Turn on AC: “Okay Google, turn on [AC name]”. E.g.: “Okay Google, turn on living room AC”
  • Change temperature: “Okay Google, change [AC name] temperature to [degrees]”.  E.g.: “Okay Google, change living room AC temperature to 72 degrees.”
  • Change mode: “Okay Google, change [AC name] to [cool/eco/fan] mode”.  E.g.: “Okay Google, change living room AC to Cool Mode.”
  • Change fan speed: “Okay Google, change [AC name] fan speed to [auto/low/medium/high]”.  E.g.: “Okay Google, change living room AC fan speed to Low.” (Note: the AC will display A/1/2/3 for auto/low/medium/high.)
  • Turn off AC: “Okay Google, turn off [AC name]”.  E.g.: “Okay Google, turn off living room AC.”

You don’t need a smart speaker or smart home hub to use Google Home voice commands. You can use the Google Home app itself: tap the microphone at the bottom of the app screen and then say your command.

You can also access your AC controls through the Google Home app. Any linked devices will appear on the main screen of the app. Google frequently changes these controls, however, so some features may be missing.

Things to know

  • Google Home voice commands should work consistently, but the AC controls in the app itself may be missing important features, such as the ability to change the mode or temperature, or the ability to turn the AC on or off. Google updates the Google Home user interface frequently (sometimes once a week), and features may appear or disappear with each change.
  • Google does not allow you to change the mode and the temperature with a single voice command. If you want to change the mode and the temperature, please use two separate commands.
  • If you change the AC’s name in Google Home, the name will not update in the Windmill app. This is how Google Home is designed.
